KATIKATI RSA
NEWSLETTER 2/10
Hello and greetings
to you all once again. The onset of Winter is almost here so no doubt
you are all keeping warm or at least trying to. Hopefully you have all
had your Flu’ shots. Quite a bit has
happened since my last epistle and I shall address most of it here.
ANZAC DAY
Both the Dawn Service and Civic
Service went off very well. The weather played its part and both
Services were extremely well attended. The Ladies Committee
provided a wonderful
Lunch for us for which we are truly grateful. Katrina in the kitchen
put on a lovely Breakfast and assistance was provided by the Board from
the Club. Well done to you all. We had some entertainment during the
afternoon from Ces and Joy and this was well received by those who
stayed to listen. Hopefully we can provide further entertainment next
year, your comments would be appreciated.
AGM
A reasonably large gathering attended our AGM including Alec PLUCK,
President of Waikato/King Country/Bay of Plenty District committee along
with Ces HUGHES and Clive COLLINGWOOD
also members of the Executive. This was a special AGM as we awarded
Life Membership to Murray RUTHERFURD and Hon. Life Membership to Shirley
JOHNSTON. Both well deserved awards.
The following are
the Committee for the year: Peter Sparrow President, Ray Taylor Vice
President, Murray Rutherfurd Welfare Office, John Farrell Secretary,
John Dent, Ron Jackson, Bill Purcell, Don Zander, Ted Anderson and Earle
Barbarich.
FLAG POLE
The Flag Pole in front of the Club needs a spruce up and your Committee
is to undertake this
work in the near future. It is looking rather shabby.
LEXHAM PARK
We have a visiting roster for our Veteran’s who reside there.
Currently the roster means you are called on about every 3 months or
so. It is not and onerous task, in fact quite easy. We are on the
lookout for more volunteers so if you can help then contact Bill
Purcell.
ODE
This is recited on a Friday night at
1800hrs. Once again there is a roster system at the Club for this. If you feel able to do this little task then see Janice at the Club.
KEV
This organisation is always looking for more members. We have regular
trips away to various venues of interest and the cost is minimal. If
you would like to consider joining then please contact either myself or
Murray Rutherfurd for more details.
Murray and I
attended a District Meeting yesterday in Opotiki. There was very little
to report of note. The new War Pensions Act is ongoing and the
Government is shortly to receive a preliminary report. It will be some
time before this is finalised
